Position

Stuart is a partner and leads the Solent employment team. He advises clients on all aspects of the employment relationship from recruitment to termination. He regularly deals with knotty disciplinary and grievance issues often involving senior employees and claims of discrimination. On a more strategic level he has much experience advising on restructures, large scale redundancies and outsourcing situations. He advises clients such as Krispy Kreme, Phase Eight and Safestore on all aspects of employment law, both contentious and non-contentious, and he has a particular interest and expertise in the retail sector. He is an experienced Tribunal advocate where he has represented both employers and employees. He is a keen and passionate trainer in employment law and best business practice and has delivered bespoke courses to numerous clients and has recently worked closely with a client to deliver a specific course on collective consultation for their employee forum representatives.

Shoosmiths LLP acts for an impressive range of clients and undertakes the full range of HR advisory and contentious work. The team advises Phase Eight (Fashion & Design) on day-to-day employment matters, most recently in connection with a number of employee relations matters and minimum wage compliance. In other work, Stuart Lawrenson , assisted by senior associate Sian Hoare, is assisting Gourmet Burger Kitchen with a range of matters including a grievance and right to work issues. Lawrenson's expertise also includes unfair dismissal and discrimination cases, TUPE regulations and workforce reorganisations.
