Work Department
Head of litigation.
Position
Rose Donoghue is a solicitor and partner. She heads the national litigation teams within Access Legal from Shoosmiths. She has specialised in personal injury claims since 1989 and has substantial experience of acting for clients who have sustained catastrophic injuries. Her specialism is personal injury and in particular, catastrophic and injuries of maximum severity. Rose has a special interest in injuries involving traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury. She has recently settled a catastrophic brain injury case where the total settlement figure was in excess of £5m on behalf of a young girl who was deprived of oxygen at birth and will require full-time care for the rest of her life. She also recently settled a case for just over £1m for a man who sustained a severe brain injury as a result of an accident at work and due to his injuries is unable to return to any form of employment and will require support from a case manager for the rest of his life. Rose has made a number of applications to the Court of Protection in cases where her clients lack capacity under the Mental Health Act 2006. She also works closely with independent financial advisors to ensure that settlements achieved for clients who have suffered injuries of maximum severity are constructed in order to meet their needs in the future. Rose has been the driving force in leading the national catastrophic strategy through building links with charities and organisations who are able support individuals who have suffered catastrophic injuries.
