Shoosmiths LLP, which handles a broad cross-section of outsourcing mandates, has a particularly strong capability in facilities management (FM) outsourcings; the firm acts for five of the world's largest FM providers. In addition, practitioners such as Simon Edwards and department head David Jackson have previous experience of working-in-house at FM providers. The firm (which also acts for customers) handles various other types of outsourcings, including BPO and IT. In 2017, Jackson and Joseph Stephenson acted for Telefónica in the outsourcing of its finance and accounting function to India. Elsewhere, members of the team have expertise in the full spectrum of commercial contracts, including agency, franchising, IP and licensing agreements, distribution and IT contracts. Robin Webb (who is the automotive sector head at the firm) and recently promoted senior associate Andy Pratley assisted Nissan with renegotiating a digital marketing agreement (for global website design, build and maintenance services) with one of the world's largest marketing and technology agencies. Other industries where the firm generates commercial contracts work include retail, food and drink, sport, financial services and technology/digital. Senior associate Simon McArdle is recommended.
