Mortgage recoveries.
Position
Darren is head of the mortgage recoveries department in the Manchester office which is part of the lender services team. He specialises in the provision of legal services to financial institutions, in relation to the collection of mortgage arrears on residential property. With experience in advising both primary and secondary lenders, including the UK’s largest, Darren provides a complete service in dealing with defaulting customers. He has skills in negotiation to encourage debtors to repay their debt and avoid possession proceedings. Where this is not possible, he has great knowledge and experience in proceeding through the County Court process to protect the security of the client. However, throughout the process Darren looks for every opportunity to avoid the necessity of repossessing the property to the benefit of both the client and their customer.
Career
Trained Halliwells; qualified as legal executive 2000; Halliwells 1994-2008; partner Shoosmiths 2009. Darren qualified as a legal executive in 2000, becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 2002. Prior to joining Shoosmiths in 2009, Darren was the head of the mortgage repossession department at HLlnteractive LLP for 14 years in Manchester, the Halliwells LLP subsidiary.
