Dewi Savitri Reni’s practice includes debt restructuring and insolvency, oil and gas law, shipping law, mergers and acquisitions, and civil litigation.

Ms. Reni’s projects include:

  • advising on bankruptcy proceedings for Luxindo Nusantara at a commercial court in Indonesia
  • acting as Indonesian counsel for a group of US$ bondholders in the controversial court-supervised debt restructuring of PT Bakrie Telecom Tbk (BTel)
  • representing a syndicate of seven European banks in the court-supervised debt restructuring of PT Berlian Laju Tanker (BLT)
  • advising on the acquisition of SJ Indonesia by South Korea's Hotel Lotte

Ms. Reni started her career as a defense attorney at one of the most prestigious litigation law firms in Jakarta, where she defended numerous high-profile clients. After completing her LL.M., Ms. Reni worked for an intellectual property law firm in Houston, Texas.

Ms. Reni is admitted to practice law in both Indonesia and New York, and maintains outstanding ties with Indonesian government officials, civil society and lawyers.

Dewi Savitri Reni received her LL.B. in 2005 from the University of Indonesia, where she was honored as the Leading Student from both the Faculty of Law and the university. Ms. Reni received a Fulbright scholarship to study law at the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned her LL.M. in 2008. In 2015, Ms. Reni was a guest lecturer at UC Berkeley, discussing Indonesian legal reforms.

Projects and energy

SSEK Legal Consultants has a strong background in mining, oil and gas, and power projects, and has an increasing focus on geothermal projects. Michael Carl advised China Hongqiao on the financing and development of an alumina refinery project. Ira Eddymurthy and Dewi Savitri Reni advised the Indonesian Ministry of Finance and Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and Pertamina together on developing an oil and gas state-owned enterprise. Dyah Soewito acted for Enscoloan on its agreement with an Indonesian company and its foreign shareholder for financing the purchase of an oil drilling rig. Also recommended are Fitriana Mahiddin, who is an expert in oil and gas, mining and private power; project finance specialist Michael Twomey; and Syahdan Aziz, who is skilled in the natural resources sector. Darrell Johnson is also noted for advising on oil and gas and geothermal projects.
