Career

Fitriana Mahiddin joined SSEK in 1999. Her main areas of practice are oil and gas law, mining and private power, as well as acquisitions, foreign investment and general corporate and commercial law.

Ms. Mahiddin has represented numerous leading offshore and local upstream oil and gas companies and has been involved in major oil and gas, coalbed methane and mining projects.

Ms. Mahiddin's experience includes:

  • Advising a London-headquartered subsea engineering, construction and services multinational serving the offshore energy industry in connection with a spoolbase project in Bali. 
  • Representing an energy company, Sele Raya, in an intended cooperation with PT Banyubang Blora Energy.
  • Acting as counsel to energy company PT Sele Raya Merangin Dua in connection with the Joint Use of Access Road and Pipeline Construction Agreement.
  • Acting as Indonesian legal counsel for a US-based energy company in connection with a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit project.
  • Advising on the acquisition of PT SJ Indonesia by Hotel Lotte Co., Ltd., and obtaining all requisite licenses for PT SJ Indonesia to carry on business as a Duty Free Store. This was the first time a foreign investment company has been licensed to engage in the duty free store business in Indonesia.
  • Acting as Indonesian counsel to an oil and gas exploration and production company in the acquisition of shares in British Virgin Islands incorporated subsidiaries of an Australia-based energy company.
  • Assisting the Indonesian state-owned oil and natural gas corporation, Pertamina, in the purchase of the shares of KUFPEC Indonesia (Pangkah) BV, a company incorporated under Netherland Law that owns a 25% participating interest in an oil and gas working area in Indonesia.
Ms. Mahiddin is recognized as a leading projects and natural resources practitioner by Asialaw and as a leading corporate and finance lawyer by IFLR1000.

Education

Ms. Mahiddin graduated in 1999 from the University of Indonesia Faculty of Law. In 2004, she earned her Master of Laws in international business law from Vrije Universiteit in the Netherlands.

Michael Carl advised developer China Shenhua on several major power projects in Indonesia, and assisted Guangdong Guohua with an operations and maintenance subsidiary to service the Jawa-7, 2 x 1,000MW coal-fired power plant.
