Career

Fahrul S. Yusuf is heavily involved in mergers and acquisitions, the establishment of corporations and corporate restructuring, and foreign investment. He also advises clients on securities, debt restructuring and antitrust matters.

Mr. Yusuf's projects have included:

    • Acting as Indonesian counsel to Alibaba Group as part of its US$1 billion acquisition on online retailer Lazada.
    • Advising Woori Bank of South Korea in the purchase of a 33% stake in Bank Saudara of Indonesia.
    • Representing China Construction Bank in the acquisition of Bank Windu and the merger with Bank Anda, a transaction valued at approximately US$100 million.
    • Assisting Bank Mandiri, one of the largest banks in Indonesia, in its acquisition of a general insurance company with AXA.
    • Working with Bank Permata on its domestic offering of Rp 500 billion of subordinated bonds.
    • Representing the Panin ANZ consortium in the acquisition of a controlling stake in Bank Permata from the Indonesian government.
Mr. Yusuf is recognized as an Up and Coming Lawyer in the IFLR1000 Finance and Corporate guide to the world's leading lawyers and law firms. He was named the Young Lawyer of the Year at the Asian Legal Business 2017 Indonesia Law Awards.

Mr. Yusuf graduated in 2003 from the University of Indonesia Faculty of Law and earned his Master of Laws from the University of Chicago in 2010. He attended the Academy of American and International Law in Dallas, Texas, in 2008.
