Career

Dyah Soewito is a specialist in Indonesian oil and gas law, foreign investment law, maritime law, and real estate, construction, corporate and commercial law. Speaking about Ms. Soewito, one client said she "excels in face-to-face negotiations thanks to her complete knowledge of relevant legislation and accurate analysis of the positions of various parties” (Chambers Asia).

Ms. Soewito was a member of the Board of Advisors of the ELIPS Project, Indonesia's commercial law reform project and one of the largest undertakings of its kind in the world, from 1992 to 1996. She helped write Indonesia's foreign investment law and from 1995 to 1999 assisted a private sector client to prepare recommendations for Indonesian government policy on the development of a major gas project.

Ms. Soewito has been recognized by Asia Law & Practice as one of Indonesia's leading practitioners in the fields of mergers and acquisitions, property, shipping, and maritime and aviation law, by IFLR1000 as one of the leading Indonesian practitioners in mergers and acquisitions, and by Chambers Asia as one of the top real estate lawyers in Indonesia.

Ms. Soewito has been a guest speaker at numerous domestic and international conferences and has lectured at various government agencies, including the Ministry of Forestry and the Ministry of Finance.

Education

Ms. Soewito graduated from the University of Indonesia Faculty of Law in 1977 and in 1988 was a visiting scholar at the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley. Also in 1988, she participated in the Academy of American and International Law in Dallas, Texas.
