Corporate banking: the firm have a long tradition of providing legal support to the banking and finance industry in Singapore that dates back to their establishment in 1964. Their well-established and experienced team of banking and finance lawyers are highly praised for their expertise and have advised on many high profile complex and significant local and cross-border banking and finance transactions. Their clients include both local and foreign banks and financial institutions as well as corporates.

Corporate finance: Shook Lin & Bok have a strong corporate finance practice which consists of specialists who are leading lawyers in their respective fields. The practice has been actively involved in advising clients, both local and international, on a diverse range of local and cross-border matters including capital markets, corporate governance, derivatives, investments, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, property, regulatory, restructuring, technology, media and telecommunications; as well as trust, asset and wealth management.

The firm also provide assistance on setting up businesses in Singapore and provide advice on immigration, employment, regulatory, tax and other areas of law that are important in setting up a business or presence in Singapore. Their clients include start-ups, major Singapore corporate and multi-nationals, financial institutions, private equity and venture capital firms and other financiers.

Litigation and dispute resolution: the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution practice is amongst the select handful of practices in Singapore which can count on being briefed on one side or the other in any major dispute. The practice, which comprises two senior counsels and is recognised for its expertise by various legal publications, helps clients resolve a full range of contentious matters, including banking and finance, corporate matters, company and shareholders’ disputes, employment, insurance and property.

As courtroom battle is not the only way to resolve a dispute, where viable the firm assist clients to resolve their disputes through alternative forms of dispute resolution. They have a strong international arbitration team which has been involved in arbitration cases both locally and around the world. Within the practice, they also have an active restructuring and insolvency team which represents bank and non-bank creditors, companies, regulators and insolvency practitioners.
