Career

Pauline heads the Banking & Finance practice and is also a Director in the firm’s Corporate & Finance Department. She has more than two decades of experience representing and advising clients on a wide range of local and cross-border loan and financing transactions. She has also acted for clients in mergers and acquisitions of local and foreign companies and general corporate and commercial transactions.

More specifically, Pauline has worked on bilateral and syndicated loan facilities to borrowers from the ASEAN countries, the Asia Pacific region, and Europe. She has also advised clients on the financing of infrastructure projects including power plant and highway construction projects, property construction financing, ship financing, and loan restructuring and rescheduling.

Pauline was an adjunct tutor and lecturer for graduate and post-graduate students on banking and finance topics. The Singapore Institute of Legal Education appointed her a Teaching Fellow for the ‘Corporate & Commercial Practice’ subject of the Singapore Bar Examinations.

At Drew & Napier LLC Pauline Chong  returned to lead the team after a spell at Royal Golden Eagle Group, replacing former department head Valerie Kwok, who retired from the firm. The 'excellent' team has maintained deal flow, particularly in acquisition financings, green financings, project financings and restructurings. The firm has close connections to all the major local banks, a number of export credit agencies (ECAs) and large corporate borrowers. It advised COSCO Shipping International on a S$350m loan from Bank of China to part finance its S$488m cash buyout of  Singapore-listed Cogent Holdings, the logistics firm. Renu Menon is another key name.
