Career
Ju Hong Kim is a foreign attorney in the firm's Mergers & Acquisition Practice Group, Foreign Direct Investment Practice Group, Corporate Governance Practice Group, and Customs and International Trade Practice Group. Mr. Kim has extensive experience in a wide range of cross-border transactions, including share and asset purchases and joint ventures, corporate governance, competition law, and general corporate and commercial law matters. He has advised many multinational companies in setting up their Korean operations. As a member of the firm's International Trade, Antidumping and Customs Practice Group, he is also active in advising clients on virtually all trade compliance issues such as customs valuation, classification, country or origin marking, duty-preference and savings program, export controls, trade sanctions, antidumping, and other related matters. Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Mr. Kim practiced in the areas of international trade compliance and disputes at Baker & McKenzie in Washington D.C. His representative work in recent years includes assisting a major corporation in the global acquisition of shares and assets of a multinational company; advising multinational companies in the purchase or sale of sales in domestic companies; defending multinational companies in connection with allegations of improper business conducts; representing multinational companies against challenges from the Korean customs authorities on customs and trade-related matters at administrative and court appeals; and representing foreign producers in antidumping investigations before the Korea Trade Commission.
