Career

Zheng Yu joined JunHe on 1 May 2014. He started his legal practice in 1999 at a local law firm in Guangzhou, where he worked for five years and developed extensive experience in corporate and business-related dispute resolution. In 2003, as one of the two selected Chinese young lawyers for the “Chinese Young Lawyer Training Program in France”, he won a French government scholarship to attend a professional training program at EFB, the Paris Bar School. In 2004, Zheng Yu joined the renowned international law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel (“Gide”), and worked at its offices in Paris and Beijing for ten years. He was appointed as a partner of Gide in March 2011, and has since then been managing its Beijing office as a co-head. When working at Gide in the last decade, Zheng Yu provided legal services to many leading multinational companies for their business and investment projects in China. He has significant expertise and experience advising investors on complex foreign direct investments, cross-border M&A, dispute resolution (arbitration and litigation), corporate compliance, employment issues and tourism real estate projects in China. His sector experience includes energy, construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, automobile, international trade, financial services, insurance, pharmaceuticals, tourism, etc. Zheng Yu is a recommended leading lawyer in the Chambers Asia Pacific (2013 and 2014 editions) for Dispute Resolution and Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2012, 2013 and 2014 editions) for Real Estate and Dispute Resolution.

Among them, Yongqiang Yu assisted Vanke Hong Kong with its investment in the privatisation of Global Logistic Properties with a consortium of investors. A Beijing-based team, led by Yu Zheng and Hongbin Zhang, acted for Xinhua Net, and its subsidiaries Xinhua New Media and China Economic Information Group, on their joint venture with Hangzhou Ali Venture Capital Investment and Hangzhou Shu Wen Yun Investment Partnership for the establishment of Xinhua Wise Cloud Technological. Shenzhen-based Jiayu Lin  assisted Cardinal Health with the $557m sale of its China drug distribution business to Shanghai Pharmaceuticals. Within its sizable team, Adam Li specialises in advising US companies in cross-border investments, M&A, private placements, public offerings and privatisations; Warren Hua is particularly experienced acting for SOEs in their outbound investment and handling foreign investment in Chinese A-share listed companies; Kirk Tong has particular experience in foreign direct investment, capital markets and antitrust matters; M&A expert Wei Xiao is recommended for share acquisitions and compliance matters, as is private equity specialist Binxue Sang, who advises multinational on cross-border transactions.
