The banking team at Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu handles the full gamut of loans and financing transactions in the aircraft, shipping, real estate and projects space. SMBC recently appointed a team led by financial services regulatory expert Taku Umezawa to oversee its acquisition of American Railcar Leasing, and Terukazu Katsuyama advised the Development Bank of Japan as senior lender on the project financing of a biomass power plant in China. On the real estate front, Kenji Utsumi and Yoshinobu Koyama assisted Gaw Capital with its acquisition of the Minatomirai Center Building, while Mami Ikebukuro counselled Sumitomo and Sumisho Realty Management on the formation of a fund for investment into the US real estate market. Jiro Mikami is also a key name in the real estate finance practice. Fumihide Sugimoto leads the team and Shinichiro Horaguchi, Hiroshi Fujiwara and Hideaki Suda were promoted to partner.

Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu entrusts its projects and energy offering to Shunpei Tanaka and Jiro Mikami, and recently bolstered its lineup through the promotion to partner of Hiroshi Fujiwara and financing specialist Shinichiro Horaguchi. In recent highlights, Akemi Suzuki and Rintaro Hirano represented GE Energy Financial Services in forming its first solar energy fund. Terukazu Katsuyama, acting on behalf of several Japanese banks, oversaw the project financing aspects of the construction of a wind power plant in southern Japan and also acted for the Development Bank of Japan in the financing of a biomass plant in Chiba. JERA appointed a team led by Kei Okubo to draft PPAs and EPC contracts related to a number of power plants, and Kiyoshi Honda provides ongoing counsel to an electricity and gas retail business in Japan. Also notable is Takao Higuchi who has considerable experience in PFI and PPP issue and banking mandates.
