Boon Leong has practised almost exclusively in international arbitration seated within South-east Asia for the past 15 years. He is licensed to appear before the courts in Singapore and Malaysia on arbitration related litigation, two of the most active international arbitration jurisdictions within the region. He has led high-value and complex arbitrations administered under the SIAC, AIAC and ICC. His practice has evolved to focus on power/energy, oil & gas, infrastructure, steel, construction, mining, corporate, international investment/commercial disputes. Recent briefs and representations include disputes in connection with power projects and power purchase agreements for plants exceeding 2000MW, an ongoing 6 MTPA integrated steel plant project, a 400,000m oil tank facility project, an off-shore central processing platform and one of the largest corporate acquisition in Malaysia in 2018.

Education

He graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LLB (Hons) degree in 1991. He was called to the Singapore Bar in 1992 and is a member of the Malaysian Bar.

Sathiaseelan Jagateesan, who is 'very knowledgeable, wise, eloquent, patient and cares about his clients', and Ho Chien Mien lead a substantial team that advises on construction projects, engineering and infrastructure mandates, as well as back-end litigation and arbitration. The former is advising the developer, Soil-Build, on all aspects of the S$50m integrated construction of a manufacturing and fabrication facility, which includes offices and a dormitory. In other work, the team is assisting IOI Properties Group with the development of the Central Boulevard project located within the Central Business District of Singapore, which is valued at S$3bn and concerns the envisaged construction of two Grade A office towers together with a retail space. The team is also handling a number of arbitrations and litigation concerning large-scale power and transport projects, as well as disputes over design and building defects. Other key lawyers include Chong Yee Leong and Chong Boon Leong.
