Sanjiv’s areas of expertise span litigation, arbitration and white-collar-crime and investigations. A litigator with 20 years of experience, Sanjiv is the Co-Head of the Employment Practice and has an outstanding reputation in this area of the law. He regularly advises multinational corporations, including Fortune 500 companies, on various employment disputes, including claims for wrongful dismissal, retrenchment, disciplinary inquiries, and restraint of employment/trade claims.

In terms of his arbitration practice and in this year alone, Sanjiv has been instructed a number of matters where the total claim sums are in excess of US$500 million. He has developed an outstanding reputation in this area of the law and is held in high regard by clients.

Sanjiv is highly regarded for his white-collar defence and fraud investigations work, advising clients on matters that include corruption, criminal breach of trust, insider trading and anti-money laundering. He also regularly advises clients on mutual legal assistance and extradition. Sanjiv is regularly involved in multi-jurisdictional/cross-border fraud investigations.

Called to the Bar of England and Wales, Middle Temple, in 1997, and the Singapore Bar in 1998.




Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. Associate Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre. Vice-Chairman of the Admissions Committee and a member of the Criminal Practice Committee of the Law Society of Singapore.

Allen & Gledhill LLP's team handles the gamut of employment and industrial relations matters especially those pertaining to cross-border and dual-employment arrangements and employee transfers and also has strength in areas such as pension schemes and employment disputes - particularly those involving senior employees. In recent work, it acted for Grab Inc, as it acquired the operations of Uber Technologies, on the transfer of the employees in Singapore and numerous other Asian jurisdictions. The team also advised on various complex, cross-border and Singapore law employment issues in connection with the merger of Standard Life and Aberdeen Asset Management. On the disputes side, it acted for Brightex Paints in a case concerning the theft of valuable industrial, confidential information by an employee. Kelvin Wong and Sanjiv Kumar Rajan jointly head the team; litigator Aaron Lee is recommended for his 'responsiveness and great industrial knowledge'; and Vincent Leow is another name to note.
