The firm

The firm was formed in 1997 by Ranjit Singh Walia.

The main areas of practice since its inception have been in the fields of aviation, FDI in various sectors, corporate and regulatory affairs. Its aviation expertise encompasses all the diverse and complex areas of this niche genre of law in its various hues, including inter alia entity formation, regulatory law, general corporate advisory services, customs and indirect taxes, labour and advocacy.

The law office supports clients by going beyond pure legalese to render effective strategic advice and need-based solutions built around their specific operation functioning/requirements. While its core areas of work are in the aviation industry, and foreign direct investment and regulatory affairs, it has spread its wings and provides services to clients in the automobile sector, logistics sector and industry bodies. Over the last year it has added to its client list in the aviation, hospitality industry and mining sectors.

The founding partner, Mr Ranjit Singh Walia, is also the ‘acknowledged legal expert’ who was invited as a member of the Aviation Working Group Committee of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, which speaks volumes about his deeply embedded and dynamic knowledge of Indian aviation law. He significantly contributed to the drafting of the report on the Indian cargo and express industry, which is being considered as a key input and blueprint for the proposed Indian civil aviation policy for express and general cargo.

Awards: his expertise in the aviation sector has won Ranjit accolades, including the GLE Aviation Lawyer of the Year 2014 and the firm has received recognition as the recipient of the ‘GLE Regulatory Law Firm of the Year’ 2015.
