Career

John heads the National Property team at Kensington Swan. He has 45 years’ experience in property and leasing work, and is able to advise on all aspects of commercial property law John specialises in commercial leasing work, advising both landlords and tenants on all aspects of their leasing transactions. In recent years John has focused on leasing work for government agencies. He has a depth of experience in advising on development agreements for design/build/lease transactions, as well as advising on commercial conveyancing and subdivision transactions. John acts for government and private sector clients as well as trusts and private individuals. John has trusted advisor status with his clients. He is readily accessible to his clients and because of his years of experience he knows the right questions to ask when taking instructions for new matters. John is an expert draft-person.

John is a member of the Property Law Section of New Zealand Law Society, a member of the Property Council of New Zealand, he is the Chairman of Directors of Central House Limited, and a Trustee of Katherine Mansfield Fellowship Trust. . John is also chairman of the Alexander Turnbull Library Endowment Trust Board which stands as trustee of endowment funds established for the benefit of the Alexander Turnbull Library and also the Douglas Lilburn Charitable Trust.
