Position
Jeremy is a partner in SJ Berwin LLP’s reconstruction and insolvency group. His experience covers the entire spectrum of legal services required by clients, ranging from those pertinent to the preservation of shareholder value, mitigation of management risks, the acquisition and disposition of distressed assets, to enforcement of creditors’ rights and contested asset recovery. He has a gained a deep understanding of the dynamics and legal frameworks applying to a wide variety of industry sectors, including automotive, aviation, construction, energy, financial services, foods, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and telecoms. Jeremy also has considerable experience in resolving the issues inherent where businesses transcend international boundaries. He predominantly advises companies and those who invest in them, banks, turnaround professionals and insolvency practitioners. Jeremy has been responsible for many reported cases over the years, including Charge Card Services, Royal Trust v NatWest and Re Greystoke, and has played important roles in a large number of high-profile restructurings and insolvencies, including MG Rover, TXU, Dura Automotive and more recently, the Bauger Group.
Career
Qualified 1984; Cameron Markby Hewitt; DLA; partner Baker & McKenzie; partner SJ Berwin 2008 to date. One of the first solicitors to obtain an insolvency practitioner’s licence (1989). Author of many articles in insolvency publications and occasionally in the national press; author of ‘Notes on Commercial Property and Insolvency (1992).
