Commercial litigation.

Position

Partner in the commercial litigation department of SJ Berwin LLP. Tim’s area of practice is complex commercial fraud, corporate disputes, pensions and media litigation, as well as giving strategic advice in relation to dispute avoidance in corporate transactions. He acts regularly in cross-border disputes throughout most of Europe and North America, as well as Africa. Tim is listed in the ‘Legal Experts’ guide as an expert in commercial litigation. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and appears as a legal commentator on CNN and the BBC. Within the last 12 months he has acted worldwide for Hollinger against Conrad Black; acted for a major Hollywood studio against the UK-based producer to successfully resolve a 20-year dispute concerning a multi-Oscar winning film; successfully concluded a long-running action on behalf of the Blackwell (Publishing) family; acted for one of Europe’s biggest and highest profile private equity houses in its dispute with on of its founding partners; advised on discrete aspects of various corporate transactions; acted for Nomura in a €1,300m dispute concerning the restructuring and IPO of a German property portfolio; advised the English co-venturer in a Russian joint-venture on its anti-corruption policy.
