Business immigration and employment

Position

Partner in the immigration and employment teams; head of the immigration team. Business immigration: considerable experience of advising multi-national businesses on UK immigration law, including considerable experience of advising employers on Tier 2 visa applications (including ‘intra-company transfer’ and ‘general’ applications) and on the sponsorship regime generally.  He also has experience, for instance, of advising educational institutions in connection with Tier 4 of the sponsorship regime and high-net-worth individuals on Tier 1 Investor visa applications. Employment: considerable experience of advising (i) businesses on a very wide range of English/UK employment law matters, including having advised on executive appointments and dismissals, a wide range of employment law claims, drafting of employment related documentation and issues arising out of business transfers and reorganisations and offshorings and (ii) employees on the protection and enforcement of their rights in the workplace.

Anthony Sakrouge leads the team of 'tenacious and committed litigators' at Russell-Cooke LLP, which 'delivers appropriate and measured advice that gives clients confidence in its ability'. The department focuses on the financial services sector and regularly handles discrimination and whistleblowing claims, restrictive covenants and bonus disputes. In a recent highlight, the 'outstanding' Alex Bearman acted for an individual in a claim for money owed under a joint share ownership scheme; other work includes Sakrouge representing a senior executive who was mistakenly paid a bonus twice and was subsequently dismissed for gross misconduct and Bearman handling negotiations for a chief information officer relating to the termination of his employment. Charity sector specialist Jane Klauber and 'courageous litigator' Edward Wanambwa are also key individuals.

Russell-Cooke LLP‚Äôs business immigration team is noted for its experience in advising on the immigration law implications of complex and high value corporate transactions. Its client-base spans the education, professional services, healthcare, finance, media and pharmaceuticals sectors. Acting for individuals, the team also regularly handles complex children and family law issues and also advises on sensitive immigration adoption cases involving adoption of children abroad. The team is also experienced in advising on personal injury claims with an immigration element. Department head Edward Wanambwa¬†is ‚Äėvery experienced‚Äô and has a focus on business immigration; and senior associate Nisha Patel¬†is active across human rights, appeals and overstay matters, as well as business-related immigration cases.
