Criminal litigation.
Position
Head of fraud and criminal litigation department since 2003. Jae specialises in complex fraud and large-scale cases (including VAT fraud, tax evasion, money laundering, mortgage fraud and all proceeds of crime offences) and serious criminal cases (including offences of murder, large-scale drug trafficking and multi defendant cases). Key interest in extradition work. She has developed a particular expertise in representing professionals who find themselves accused of criminal matters with potentially career-threatening implications, including cases involving regulatory or compliance issues. Notable cases: R v S (acting for investment company in boiler room fraud); R v Curry and others (large-scale drug importation case, acquitted after trial); representation of Peter Hain MP, accused of late reporting of donations under Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 during his campaign for deputy leadership of the Labour Party in May 2007; Regina v Sir Stephen Richards (trial of Lord Justice of Appeal).
