Slater and Gordon

The 'modern and forward thinking' personal injury department at Slater and Gordon has been highlighted as a 'big player' in the market in Yorkshire. Head of operations at the Sheffield office, and 'stand out practitioner', Matthew Tomlinson leads the team and handles accident at work claims including those resulting in life changing injuries. Tomlinson recently advised a police constable at the Metropolitan Police Force following an incident whereby a fire extinguisher was sprayed in the claimants face by a colleague.  In another recent work example, senior associate Joanne Markham successfully represented a individual who sustained an injury resulting in chronic regional pain after having an accident at work, and successfully achieved a significant settlement. The 'very strong' Sheffield-based team also includes senior associate Christopher Briggs who has particular expertise in claims arising from industrial diseases, including those relating to asbestos. The practice is ably assisted by the 'down to earth and friendly' associate Alicia Townsend, who has 'a good deal of experience in personal injury work'.

Hot on the heels of securing convictions and a custodial sentence for insider dealing in R v McQuoid [2009], further signs of the Financial Services Authority (FSA)’s renewed vigour for combating market abuse continue to emerge.
