Within: Insolvency and corporate recovery

The insolvency team at Pitmans LLP has 'great strength in depth across all geographical areas, and excellent levels of experience'. The lawyers handle both insolvency proceedings and restructurings in the IT, telecoms, construction, retail, hospitality, healthcare and automotive sectors, among others. In 2017, the number of contentious matters increased, especially in terms of antecedent matters, director claims, bribery, corruption, criminal proceedings, injunctions and asset tracing. In a recent highlight, the 'vastly experienced' Suzanne Brooker and David Williams represented the trustee in a six-figure bankruptcy and the bankrupt's application to annul the proceeding and set aside the judgment, as well as in a claim for the possession of their home. 'Rising star' Stacey Jones, who was promoted to partner in 2017 and has an 'incredible work ethic', acted in a multi-million-pound misfeasance claim against two directors of a company in liquidation. Further recommended are Southampton partner and 'very good strategist' Rick Munro and senior associate Sylvia Yendall, who is 'brilliant at getting to grips with technical detail'.
