Position

Partner recommended in leading directories who deals with a wide variety of complex commercial disputes, with particular expertise in international civil fraud cases and company investigations. Has extensive experience of emergency procedures. Acts for both claimants and defendants and also receives requests to act as a supervising solicitor. Sarah has acted in many major international cases involving asset tracing and recovery, including having conducted and co-ordinated tracing litigation in Switzerland, Spain, Liechtenstein, Austria, the Channel Islands, Malta, Gibraltar, the Caribbean and Micronesia. Recent cases include: litigation against various financial institutions relating to futures trading; defending various applications to disqualify directors in the BVI, successfully discharging the appointment of receivers over two companies following a hearing before the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal; acting for various plcs in internal investigations; acting in a substantial corruption case involving litigation in the Caribbean and the US; advising in a complex and international private trust case; acting for an individual in relation to various claims arising out of the administration of a substantial group of companies. Past cases include Grupo Torras, Peter Young/Morgan Grenfell, Credit Suisse v Cuoghi, Marc Rich, CWS/ Andrew Regan/Zimet and the Secretary of State for Health’s cartel fraud case. Sarah also specialises in tax work, acting for corporate and professional clients in HMRC investigations and prosecutions. Acted for Optigen and Fulcrum in the landmark European Court of Justice case in 2006.

  • THE NEW PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP LEGISLATION IS ADOPTED IN UKRAINE

    On 26 July the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych signed the Law “On the Foundations of Cooperation of the State with Private Partners” (the “Law”) which was adopted by the Ukrainian Parliament on 1 July to establish a framework for public-private partnership (“PPP”) in Ukraine. In May 2009 the Parliament already adopted the framework law on PPP, which, however, was later set aside.

  • Employers’ age discrimination of under-18s legal

    On 30 June 2010, the Danish Eastern High Court established that the provisions and the practice on a number of areas covered by collective agreements, supporting a lower pay for employees under 18 years and termination of the employees when they turn 18, cannot be deemed to constitute a violation of the Employment Equality Directive (Directive 2000/78/EC of 27 November 2000).
