Partner specialising in complex fraud litigation, including large-scale conspiracy, money laundering and insider dealing. Represents regulated business professionals and corporate bodies, and advises widely on regulatory compliance and enforcement matters, including money laundering compliance and regulatory litigation. Recent cases include: advising a former hedge fund manager under investigation for market abuse offences; advising two company directors on a challenge to SFO searches conducted pursuant to a foreign letter of request; advising company directors in relation to overseas corruption investigations; representing an IFA in an authorisation application before the RDC; defending company directors on various charges of fraud and money laundering. Has advised individuals and companies in the wake of the investigation into the UN ‘Oil for Food’ programme. High-profile past cases include successfully defending a City banker charged with making a bomb threat, representing one of the so-called ‘Flaming Ferraris’ in FSA proceedings, and representing various defendants in high-profile insider dealing investigations and prosecutions. Writes and lectures regularly on risk management, particularly money laundering compliance and fraud prevention.
