New partner for Penningtons’ Cambridge office further strengthens technology capability
Penningtons Solicitors LLP has welcomed Hamish Corner as a new partner in its Cambridge office. Hamish joins from the London office of Charles Russell LLP, where he was a member of the intellectual property group and head of the IT and e-commerce group. His appointment reflects Penningtons’ commitment to the rapid growth of its Cambridge office, which now has five partners following the arrival of Helen Drayton from Hewitsons LLP in the summer.
Hamish specialises in intellectual property, IT and e-commerce, as well as advising on a wide range of commercial contractual matters. His experience spans a variety of industry sectors, including IT, telecommunications, applied sciences, medical devices and life sciences. Hamish has also worked extensively in the restaurant, leisure and sports sectors, advising numerous household names on IP and commercial matters. He has a long track record of working with clients in the Cambridge market place and is well known within the local business community, having also previously worked at Mills & Reeve in Cambridge.
A member of the Licensing Executives Society and British Association for Sport & Law, Hamish is also the co-author of the Law Society Commercial Law Handbook as well as the Law Society Sports Law Handbook, due to be published later this year.
His appointment will help to expand Penningtons’ growing presence in the technology sector, both in the UK and the US, and reaffirms the firm’s commitment to building the strength and depth of the Cambridge team.
Penningtons’ chief executive David Raine said: “We extend a warm welcome to Hamish who will fit very easily into our Cambridge team as he already knows our partners and many of our clients. His specialist expertise complements perfectly with the Cambridge office’s focus on providing corporate, commercial and employment advice to organisations in the technology and education fields.”
