Position
Simon joined Beale and Company in February 2010 from Shadbolt LLP where he was a partner in the construction and engineering team. Simon, who is also a chartered civil engineer, is recognised in Chambers in the top category of leading individuals in the field of construction law, he specialises in solving problems and disputes in the construction and engineering industries, as well as project documentation. Simon advises clients in respect of a wide variety of building, construction and engineering projects both domestically and internationally including power stations of various types, dams, hotels, harbour works, highways, tunnels, commercial buildings, refineries, infrastructure works, cabling systems, street works, bridge works, process facilities, water treatment facilities, reservoirs, land reclamation projects, tunnels and residential developments. He is highly experienced in various forms of dispute resolution including litigation, international arbitration, domestic arbitration, adjudication and other alternative dispute resolution procedures including conciliation and dispute adjudication and dispute review board procedures. Sits as a member of dispute adjudication boards, acts as a mediator and as a conciliator; is an accredited mediator and adjudicator. Simon has worked extensively on UK domestic forms of contract including ECC/NEC, ad hoc contracts and FIDIC and EDF contracts in various jurisdictions including Hong Kong, China, Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Lesotho, Taiwan, Thailand, Denmark, Caribbean, Brazil, Turkey, Angola and Egypt.

Admitted England and Wales 1987; partner in Beale and Company 2010 to date. Publications of note: Simon is a co-author of ‘Tolley’s Guide to Construction Contracts’.
