Position

Jane Radcliffe is managing partner of Pattinson & Brewer’s York office. A recognised expert in claimant personal injury and clinical negligence work, Jane has a strong commitment to a claimant practice. Jane has a long personal history acting on behalf of clinical negligence victims, with an emphasis on actions for children. Under Jane’s guidance Pattinson & Brewer’s York office continues to build a solid reputation in the North of England for claimant personal injury and occupational and industrial disease work, focusing on asbestos-related claims. She has also achieved a growth in profile for clinical negligence work. She is particularly sensitive to the needs of claimants in actions for clinical negligence who already feel let down by professionals by the time they meet a solicitor. Jane Radcliffe acts in claims for injuries of the utmost severity and psychiatric injury, including settlements in excess of £1m, structured settlements and cases arising overseas. Janet Mary Norman v (1) Zaulafqar Ali (2) Motor Insurers’ Bureau and Mohammed Aziz v Janet Mary Norman (1999) LTL 13/12/99 – Court of Appeal decision – in which a claim was being pursued against an individual who had permitted an uninsured driver to use his car, resulting in an injury to a third party, the limitation period was one of three years. O v North Yorkshire Health Authority – clinical negligence, £3.25m award for 23-year-old suffering cerebral palsy as a result of birth injury. Rhodes v Walton – personal injury, £1m award for child injured in a near-drowning incident. Claim brought against defendant acting in loco parentis at time of accident.
