Position
Carol Jackson qualified in 1981 and has undertaken claimant personal injury cases throughout her legal career. Carol specialises exclusively in high-value complex claims, involving serious injury to the head and spine, amputations and fatal accidents. Significant cases: a Court of Appeal decision, Wright v Sullivan, concerning the roles of legal and clinical brain injury case managers which was a landmark case; in 2006, both for catastrophic brain injury case in the Isle of Man, damages exceeding £5m, which involved the first 24/7 home care regime on the island; resolution of a wedding day tragedy when the claimant’s dress became entangled in the mechanism of a trike, resulting in a double amputation above the knee; in 2007/08 Carol concluded a case for a young teenager who suffered serious brain injury in a road traffic accident and who was awarded damages exceeding £9m; in 2009, a complex trial in relation to liability only for a schoolgirl involving six defendants, including her school, a charity and two insurers, which was resolved 85% in the claimant’s favour. Recent settlements in 2010 include three £2m complex claims.
