Position
Partner and head of the Court of Protection group. Hugh spends all of his time dealing with incapacity issues and, in particular, heading a busy and expanding Court of Protection team. He set up the team in 2000 and it has grown to be one of the largest teams in the country handling more than 300 professional deputyship cases referred both internally and from a growing number of external referers. Hugh and his team also act for a large number of lay deputies. He works closely with personal injury and clinical negligence lawyers, both internally and externally. He acts as an expert witness on deputyship issues for several firms, both claimant and defendant. He lectures regularly on incapacity and Court of Protection issues. Hugh works a lot with families of learning disabled children and does a lot of work with many learning disability and other charities.
