Work Department

Regulatory.

Position

Heads a team of 30 in the regulatory department of Pannone LLP. Advises corporations and senior individuals subject to regulatory investigations, both nationally and internationally. In addition to advising corporations on compliance and interaction with regulators on substantive areas such as corruption, antitrust law, and money laundering issues, he assists a number of corporations regarding serious quasi-criminal investigations brought by HSE & EA, including gross negligence and corporate manslaughter. Caseload includes a number of high-profile SFO cases, including the ‘IKEA’ case; also the largest SFO prosecution ever into alleged criminal cartel activity in the pharmaceutical industry, this being the first case to charge illegal behaviour as a conspiracy to defraud; the widespread investigation by the SFO and Ministry of Defence Police into alleged international corruption (being appointed to represent senior key personnel in both the BAE and Balfour Beatty enquiry); the largest Inland Revenue investigation of recent times; and the ‘most complex’ customs case to date (Operation Venison). Also instructed in a number of FSA matters, including the criminal investigation into ISOFT group.

Career

Prior to conducting criminal litigation work, Anthony was employed as a police officer in Bermuda. He joined Pannone LLP in 1998, soon afterwards becoming a partner in the regulatory department.
