Position
Higher Court Advocate specialising in commercial fraud and HMRC work. Has responsibility for supervising a department that continues to be instructed in some of the country’s major HMRC Operations. 2008 saw the conclusion of Operation Euripus (claimed to be the largest HMRC prosecution ever). Currently involved in Operation Vaulter and in December 2008 convictions in Operation Emersed were quashed by the Court of Appeal. Richard’s teams experience extends to Operations Ginseng, Shepherd, Dossal Gelling, Foxtrot, Vita and Compost. Richard has recent experience of a number of high profile Trading Standards prosecutions. Richard also has considerable experience in dealing with terrorist matters with regard to investigations, prosecutions and control orders in the High Court. In 2010 acted in Operation Snapdragon which alleged a conspiracy to kill Gordon Brown and Tony Blair.
