Partner specialising in advising property clients on investment, letting and management strategy, including heritage property expertise. Heads the charities and social enterprise team within the department.

Career

Qualified 1981; solicitor Herbert Oppenheimer Nathan Vandyk 1981-85; partner Speechly Bircham 1986-96; partner Bates Wells & Braithwaite 1997. He was for many years the lead partner running the Langham Estate, advising on the overall investment and management strategy for a large area of Central London, as well as working for numerous PLC property companies. In addition to the commercial sector work, he is also involved in advising a large number of charities, ranging from household names to small social enterprise start-up organisations on all their property needs, including Charities Act compliance and the responsibility of trustees. Regular contributor to ‘Charity Finance’, and other journals writing on a range of subjects including community infrastructure levy, custodian trusteeship, co-ownership projects and mergers. Lobbies on property issues. Involved in the debate surrounding and the drafting of exemptions to the Community Infrastructure Levy and the proposed changes to surveyors legislation. Edits the property sections of ‘Charities: the New Law 2006’ and ‘Jordans Charities Administration Service’. Lectures on a wide range of topics and chairs the annual Charity Finance Property Conference.
