Position

David is a partner in the maritime, trade and energy group, specialising in insurance and shipping dispute resolution through High Court litigation, arbitration and mediation. David's insurance practice covers hull and machinery, cargo, charterers' liability, offshore energy, war, superyacht, freight services and warehousing liability insurance matters, aviation insurance and reinsurance. Work comprises defence of liability claims, as well as insurance coverage advice. David recently acted for hull and machinery insurers in the successful defence of a substantial coverage dispute. He also advises on non-marine property and liability insurance matters, jurisdictional and enforcement issues. On the shipping side, David deals with collision and salvage claims, shipbuilding and offshore construction disputes, as well as freight, demurrage and defence work, involving time and voyage charterparty disputes, cargo damage claims, unsafe port and foul berth claims, stevedore damage claims, off hire and wrongful withdrawal disputes. He has advised on claims arising out of major shipping casualties involving oil pollution, including arbitrations in the ports and terminals and offshore sectors, and misrepresentation claims against maritime service providers.
