Aviation

Within: Aviation

Norton Rose Fulbright’s aviation expertise spans a range of competition, regulatory, insurance, planning, commercial work and dispute resolution mandates. Corporate partner Chris Randall and antitrust and competition partner Ian Giles advised Delta Air Lines on its investment and partnership with Air France-KLM Group. Simon Chamberlain handles regulatory and commercial matters and advised Flyadeal on commercial contracts; and Robin Springthorpe is advising a UK airport on the effect on flying rights of a no-deal Brexit. The team also advises a number of airlines on EC261 passenger claims. British Airways, Wizz Air, Jet2.com and Virgin Atlantic are also clients. Consultant Tim Ingham and senior associate Annabelle Wheeler, who is based across the London and Munich offices, are also key figures. Duncan Batchelor heads the aviation team and Patrick Farrell  leads the contentious aviation practice, which also features Charlotte Winter.

Shipping

Within: Shipping

Norton Rose Fulbright is a ‘formidable player in the shipping market’; it has ‘great understanding of the legal and regulatory context’, and this is ‘complemented by considerable strength in depth allowing the firm to deliver a seamless service to its clients’. It is active across regulatory matters and high-profile shipping disputes, where clients praise its ‘strong international expertise’ particularly in complex cross-border mandates; and it regularly acts for shipowner, corporate, insurance and banking clients as well as trading companies, energy companies and trade finance banks involved in shipping. Patrick Foss, who handles major shipping disputes; Charlotte Winter, who has a ‘profound understanding of legal and commercial issues in any dispute’; and Chris Zavos, who is ‘fantastic’, are recommended, as are Marie Kelly, who recently re-joined the London office from Piraeus; of counsels Jo Ward and Kevin Austin; and senior associate Emma Burrage. Peter Glover has moved to the firm’s Hong Kong office. Philip Roche heads the department.
