Position
John is an energy lawyer, specialising in the physical and financial trading of gas, power, coal and related products, such as carbon emissions allowances. He is an expert in the UK energy regulatory framework and has considerable experience of negotiating tolling agreements and complex structured long-term power and gas contracts. Increasingly John’s practice focuses on renewables and clean energy projects, including biomass. John acted for The Crown Estate on structuring and negotiating the UK Round 3 offshore wind farm programme, and has advised on many landmark offshore wind farm transactions. He has also advised on a significant number of gas storage projects.
Career
Trained Eversheds; qualified 1989; in-house lawyer TXU Europe; Norton Rose 2001 to date; partner 2005. John worked in the chemical industry for ten years prior to joining the law.
