Family Law

Position

Family Law Partner

Career

Lorraine has extensive experience in dealing with and advising upon all aspects of matrimonial and family law, primarily divorce cases and medium to high financial settlements. These cases are often technically complex and involve diverse business/personal assets.

Lorraine also deals with children issues, including residence and contact applications, cohabitation disputes and agreements and prenuptial agreements.

Business people and fellow professionals represent a large proportion of Lorraine’s client base. Her attention to detail and clear, robust, yet empathetic approach has ensured that many of her referrals result from recommendations by previous clients.

Member

Lorraine is a committee member of the Cheshire branch of Resolution – the nationwide association of lawyers committed to amicable resolution of family and matrimonial disputes.

Education

Lorraine has degrees in law (University of Sheffield) and humanities (University of Ulster), and has also studied history and American constitutional law at the University of North Carolina.

Aaron & Partners LLP fields a ‘highly professional team that is very well regarded for financial remedy matters'. It also has strength in agricultural family matters. Lorraine Saunders  is noted for her ‘friendly and supportive manner and very good attention to detail’. Head of department Richard Barge acts almost exclusively for business owners/shareholders or their spouses and regularly deals with cases where the assets and wealth are held offshore, in trusts and in complex pension schemes and company structures. Senior associate Katherine Livesey  is ‘very thorough; she carefully lays out all the options and implications for clients so that they can make a fully informed decision’. Livesey is also ‘exceptionally good for children work’. 'Very approachable' associate Simon Mawdsley is also recommended. The group is frequently involved in cases with an international element and as a result is well placed to advise on jurisdictional disputes and on foreign jurisprudence in family matters.
