Position

Joint head of the national family law team, which is one of the largest in the country. Roger is recognised as one of the leading family lawyers in the country. He was one of only two family lawyers to appear in the ‘The Lawyer’ Hot 100. He is on the ‘Times’ Law Panel, an advisory body made up of 100 of the country’s most prominent barristers and solicitors. Roger is a leading authority on family law and has lectured extensively to all branches of the legal profession, including the Judicial Studies Board. He is the joint author of ‘The Family Through Divorce’, a groundbreaking book written with a leading psychologist and psychiatrist. He is also joint author of ‘Pensions and Insurance on Matrimonial Breakdown’ and Humphreys’ ‘Matrimonial Proceedings’, and the family property correspondent for ‘Private Client Business’. Roger is one of the founding fathers of the collaborative law movement in the UK and is a leading practitioner in this field, as well as a practising mediator. As a mediator, he has recently concluded a multimillion-pound dispute that was recommended to him by a High Court judge. Roger specialises in complex financial cases, particularly those involving trusts and businesses. He is currently involved in a number of collaborative cases involving businesses. He is also engaged in High Court litigation relating to a substantial farming business. He has recently chaired part of the fourth conference of the Commission for European Family Law, hosted by the law faculty of the University of Cambridge, for whose students he has done a number of training sessions.
