Position

Beverley’s recent work includes: acting for a regional university in the negotiation of a complex planning agreement to release the planning permission for a major urban extension to include a new university campus with student residences being provided under a PFI scheme; acting for a further education college in a successful planning appeal involving a public inquiry. The client obtained planning permission on appeal for residential development on surplus land. The case involved playing field/PPG17 issues; acting for a client in the higher education sector in connection with objections to the Cambridge Guided Busway Order – an order being sought by the County Council under the Transport and Works Act. Involved for the same client in the negotiation of a planning agreement in connection with a planning application for residential development; advising Addenbrooke’s NHS trust on planning matters associated with its ‘2020 vision’ which includes a major expansion into the Cambridge green belt and a medipark development; acting for Mid Bedfordshire District Council in the negotiation of a complex planning agreement to secure the infrastructure and payments associated with a large new build residential planning permission and the refurbishment and re use of a redundant hospital; advising the UK member of an international manufacturing corporation on the planning prospects for alternative development within the context of the emerging regional and local planning policies. The advice was sought to inform decision making on the future of the UK enterprise; acting for a leading regional developer in connection with a proposal for a major extension of Cambridge into the Green Belt including appearing at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Structure Plan EIP. Acting for the same developer in relation to an associated site for a major sports proposal including the co-ordination of the Environmental Assessment; acting for a consortium of landowners in the negotiation of a planning agreement to release the planning permission for a planned extension of Norwich; acting for the developers of the Peterborough Hampton township in connection with the variation of the original 1993 planning agreement using the procedure in section 106A – being the first such application entertained by Peterborough City Council.
