What do you see as the main points that differentiate Walalangi & Partners from your competitors?

We are acknowledged by our clients for our outstanding responsiveness and thorough analysis. We always provide our clients with practical solutions in timely manner. In assisting clients, we think out-of-the box and present the clients alternative solutions to their legal problems. In addition, we only provide high-quality-standard deliverables to our clients, either for advices or legal documents. All works in W&P are directly supervised by partner in charge to ensure client’s satisfaction.

Which practices in your member firm do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?

We believe M&A will still be the most active practice in the next 12 months considering the attractiveness of Indonesian market and its population. In addition, given our strong knowledge and vast experience in banking and financing, we are optimist that our banking/financing practice will grow stronger in the next 12 months. Also, our TMT (especially fintech) and antitrust team are growing steadily, and we expect the trend remains for the next 12 months.

What’s the main change that you’ve made in the firm that will benefit clients?

We are really proud of our clients’ praise towards us that we are a “client-oriented” firm, where we place our clients’ satisfaction as our top priority. To achieve this, we conduct evaluation on our products and services from time to time. In terms of products, we have changed the form of our finding reports and certain standard draft documents to be more “client-friendly” and straight forward, to help our clients to immediately focus on real legal issues and to provide them with real legal risks assessments of each issue.

In terms of fees, we always try to be competitive and open to discuss with our client on reasonable fees structure.

How is technology changing the way you interact with your clients and the services you can provide them?

Yes. Our firm is well equipped with cutting edge high-tech conf call and video-conference systems which allow us to communicate easily and more effective with foreign clients.

Can you give a practical example of how you’ve helped a client add value to their business?

As a “client-oriented” firm, we always put ourselves in the client’s shoes and provide them with practical legal solutions as well as practical methods to improve their legal protections as well as optimizing their transaction structures from the legal perspectives.

Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms – where do you see the firm in three years’ time?

For the structure of their transactions, our clients do require stability and strategic advice from us from time to time, particularly in relation to compliance issue. In three year time, we hope to see our firm as one of the 1st-tier firms in Indonesia in M&A, Financing and Banking.
