Christopher was called to the Bar in 2003 and joined St Philips Chambers in 2004. He now specialises exclusively in the law relating to children with an emphasis on public law matters. He appears regularly in the Family Court before both Circuit and High Court judges. He was short listed for the Birmingham Barrister of the Year award 2010. Christopher has extensive experience in complex and difficult public law cases under the children and adoption legislation, representing all the various parties. He has particular expertise in cases involving complicated medical issues, those featuring fabricated and induced illness, cases where placement of children outside the jurisdiction is proposed, cases where confidentiality and disclosure are an issue and others involving the inherent jurisdiction of the High Court. He also conducts matters to appellate court level, including the Court of Appeal. Christopher provides public law training to solicitors, local authorities and other professionals involved in this arena. This includes seminar presentations and court skills workshops. Christopher has vast experience of private law children disputes. He represents all the various individuals who can become parties and conducts cases which involve social services and those in which a guardian has been appointed. In addition, he has particular experience of matters featuring mental health issues, domestic violence and other serious forms of abuse.
