The firm: Angulo Martinez & Abogados is a law firm specialized in energy, offering a practice area exclusive to the electricity sector. The concept of the firm is to be the legal benchmark of the current energy transition era and sustainable development challenges. Our mission is to support our clients to endure the energy trilemma.

The firm was founded in June 2016, as a result of more than 10.000 hours of extensive study and observation of electricity framework and legal counseling in different energy projects.

In less than two years, the firm achieved significant presence in the market through recognition of clients and ongoing work. The firm credits more than 400 MW in structured energy projects and an accumulated value of transactions for more than US$500m.

In late 2017, the firm took interest in the incorporation of renewables and became associate of Ser Colombia, the energy association of new players, most of them foreign, with a target investment of about US$4000m in non-hydro renewables projects in Colombia. Ser Colombia elected our firm as a member of the Board of Directors and Secretary, where from we have also helped in the process that is about to become the first Renewable's Auction in Colombia, recently summoned by the past Government to take place around early 2019.

Main areas of practice: The firm renders legal business oriented services classified in: Project structuring, Regulatory and Transactions.

From conventional energy to non-hydro renewables, the firm is comprehensive to all the activities and value chain of the electric sector, focused on regulatory, contractual, project structuring and development, ongoing advice in operative projects and M&A.

We have extensive experience in drafting and negotiation of PPA, BOMT, EPC, O&M, agreements, development of self-production, combined production, IPP, Minor Plants and Merchant Plants structures, DDV/RD, Tax incentives, Reliability Charge, OEF Auctions, Due Diligence, Wholesale Energy Market Transactions, UPME's energy transport infrastructure projects, Connection Procedures, Connection Agreements, Negotiation of Connection Assets, Energy Supply Agreements, Tenders, Auctions, Fees/Tariffs matters and projects overlaps, among others.

By mid 2018, the firm opened a new practice area of litigation and paid tax recovery regarding incentives granted by Law 1715 of 2014, which lots of energy projects have been missing but could apply retroactively.
