Work Department

Jon is a founding partner at Northridge, providing commercial and corporate advice to clients.

He has a particular focus on the sports sector, acting for governing bodies, teams, agencies and brands. Governance is a specialism, with a recent highlight being acting for The FA on its governance reforms. Jon also has broad commercial rights experience, having acted for leading sports brands for many years on team and athlete sponsorships. He also has considerable experience advising on structural changes in sport due to his mix of corporate law and commercial expertise – for example, advising the WRU on its reset of the professional regional game in Wales, the launch of the Hockey Pro League for the FIH, and the RFL’s recent reforms to the Super League structure.

Jon’s experience beyond sport is wide and varied. He has acted for technology businesses, consumer retail brands, telecoms infrastructure providers and private equity houses. A particular passion is supporting emerging businesses using technology to disrupt their market, often in the sport and entertainment sector. This advice spans fundraising and investment, day-to-day commercial matters, and M&A work on exit by founders.
