Position
Gordon advises water companies, energy generators, waste operators, developers and manufacturers as well as central government, local authorities and regulators on environmental, regulatory and planning matters. He has a particular insight into the workings of environmental regulators and government, having previously worked at SEPA and on secondment to the Scottish Government and to Northern Ireland Water. He speaks and is published regularly on environmental issues and is Convenor of the Scots Law Working Group of the UK Environmental Law Association. Key experience includes: advising Edinburgh and Midlothian Councils c£600m municipal waste project incorporating EfW; leading advice to Northern Ireland Water (NIW) on water reform in Northern Ireland and the introduction of environmental regulation; advising major utility on review of draft National Policy Statements on Energy, evidence to Select Committee and response to consultation on the NPSs; advising Trump International Golf Links on environmental issues in respect of site acquisition and subsequent call in of planning application and public local inquiry.
