Position
Jim is a partner specialising in dispute resolution and litigation. He has a wide experience of both domestic and international commercial disputes, breach of contract claims, fraud and obtaining emergency procedures. He regularly acts for public sector clients in matters as diverse as PFI disputes, judicial review, crisis management, procurement issues and investigations. Other experiences includes: successfully defending some £65m supply chain claims for the procurement unit of a central government department. These claims attracted considerable publicity in the media and in Parliament; representing a public sector client at a large number of successful mediations involving the resolution of some £35m worth of claims; obtaining emergency relief for various clearing banks who have been the victims of fraud and/or mistaken payments; advising a major North American multinational in defending an alleged event of default claim under the terms of a US$500m loan agreement; acting for a FTSE 100 company in its US$275m ICC arbitration claim for breach of contract. Jim is also an accredited ADR Net mediator and a Qualified Solicitor Advocate (Higher Court Civil Proceedings).
