Position

Muhammad Abdullah Al-Harith Sinclair is a partner and heads up the Islamic finance team within the financial institutions and human capital group. Al-Harith is based in the London office and also spends a considerable proportion of his time in the Arabian Gulf, where Pinsent Masons’ practices are hubbed around its Dubai office. He is an Islamic finance specialist and focuses on Islamic finance and Gulf financial regulatory work for London and Gulf based clients including banking, securities and insurance work. In addition, Al-Harith has in-depth experience of Islamic project finance structures and works closely with international projects and infrastructure lawyers in Dubai and the wider Gulf and EMEA region. Al-Harith was based as a partner with an international law firm in the Gulf from 2006 to 2009. Al-Harith’s key areas of practice are: Islamic structured products and treasury products: structuring new regulatory capital products for Islamic banks, advising on Shariah compliant hedging instruments, advising on Islamic insurance (Takaful) structures; Islamic funds: structuring, together with the specialist Islamic tax advisory capability and the funds practice, all types of Islamic investment funds; Islamic project finance and structured finance: advising banks and other clients on Shariah-compliant structures including Sukuks, Reverse Murabahas, Istisna’as, Ijaras, Mudarabas and Musharakas; conventional structured credit products and derivatives transactions: advising on structured credit deals involving cutting edge structures including liquidity lines, credit linked notes and repos; Gulf financial sector M&A matters: advising on both the transactional and financial regulatory aspects of financial sector acquisitions; and Gulf banking and investment financial regulatory matters.
