Position

Anne is a partner who specialises in property development and regeneration. She has particular expertise in long-term strategic housing-led development schemes. In particular, Anne focuses on collaborations between the public and private sectors whether by way of development agreements, contractual joint ventures or the creation of property regeneration joint venture vehicles such as limited partnerships and LLPs. Anne works with both private sector developers and a variety of public sector bodies, including government departments and local authorities.

The firm has a longstanding relationship with Homes England, for which it has provided legal advice for more than 20 years. A key practitioner is Edward Sunderland, whose experience spans securitisation, debt capital markets, receivables and asset-backed finance. Sunderland was the lead adviser to Pension Insurance Corporation plc on a £100m secured private placement issued by Accord Housing Association Ltd. In another mandate, Sarah Whitty (who leads the national social housing finance practice) and Stephen Brown acted for HSBC Bank on the provision of a £200m loan facility to Genesis Housing Association and the charging of over 1,000 units. Anne Bowden and David Meecham are also highly rated.

Pinsent Masons LLP's national team undertakes a significant amount of work for London-based local authorities in relation to major housing regeneration schemes in the city. Practice head Anne Bowden, legal director Nick McDonald and senior associate Amy Walker are part of a team acting for Westminster City Council on a flagship 1,750-home housing regeneration project at Church Street. In another matter, Scot Morrison and others assisted the London Borough of Wandsworth with setting up a joint venture with Taylor Wimpey to deliver an innovative 2,000-home regeneration scheme at the Winstanley and York Road Estates near Clapham Junction Station. The firm is also involved in the Earls Court regeneration scheme, which is currently the largest housing scheme in London. Elsewhere, the firm is one of only seven to serve as legal advisers on Homes England's programme panel, with the group assisting the client with projects nationwide. David Meecham and Caroline Ramsay are among other notable individuals in the team.
