Position
Chris is an employment partner. He acts for a diverse range of private and public sector employers. In addition to his extensive advocacy experience ?in the employment tribunals, Chris has a particular interest in strategic employment law issues, such as TUPE, outsourcings and collective redundancies. Chris also heads the national university employment law team and much of his work is for the firm’s substantial university client base. He has represented many universities in complex tribunal claims, often involving discrimination issues, as well as strategic work such as restructuring and redundancies. He has a particular expertise in the statutes of chartered universities, and led a collaborative project with AHUA and UPA on the Revised Model Statute. Chris is a regular contributor to employment law journals and is a regular speaker at seminars and workshops on a variety of employment related topics. He is co-author of Redundancy: The Law and Practice 2nd Edition (Sweet and Maxwell, 2001), Working Time: A Practical Guide (Sweet and Maxwell, 2001) and Higher Education Law (Jordans, 2002). He was the North East representative for the Employment Lawyers Association between 2001 and 2004.
