Position

James Stewart is a family lawyer and arbitrator with specific expertise in complex, and often international cases. He is admitted as a solicitor in England and in Northern Ireland. James has an international family law practice and is a fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (IAML), an organisation of the world’s leading family lawyers, and a recognised expert in the field of Anglo-Russian family law. James is a member of the Times Law Panel, an advisory body of 100 of the UK’s most prominent lawyers. He has also been named in The Lawyer’s ‘Hot 100’ which highlights those lawyers who are at the top of their game. On 14 February 2013 he was named ‘Lawyer of the Week’ by The Times. The 2014 edition of the Super Lawyers list has recognised James as a leader in his field in family law. In addition, he has been included in the Top 100 Lawyers in London list. James is the general editor of ‘Family Law Jurisdictional Comparisons’ (third edition, 2015) and ‘Practical Law Company’s Multi-Jurisdictional Guide to Family Law’. He has authored the Russian and Ukrainian chapters of International Pre-nuptial and Post-nuptial Agreements (Family Law 2011). He has a reputation in the City as a family lawyer with a commercial edge and continues to attract high-net-worth and high-profile cases.
