Position
Particular focus on oil and gas, renewable energy and commercial/regulatory matters. Qualified in Scotland and England and Wales, and has practised in the City of London and in Brussels. In oil and gas, he has acted for a range of national and international upstream players, as well as the supply chain. Additionally, he has niche expertise in decommissioning and carbon capture and storage, having worked on a number of projects in these areas. In the renewables sector, he has assisted clients in a wide spectrum of projects, including in the onshore wind, offshore wind, marine energy and biomass segments. Richard also works with clients on general commercial and regulatory matters in the private and public sectors.

Qualified 1996, trained Maclay Murray & Spens; partner 2011. 1994-96 trainee, then assistant at MMS, Glasgow and Brussels; 1996-99 assistant CMS Cameron McKenna, London; 1999-2011 assistant, associate, then partner at Shepherd and Wedderburn, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.
